Stonehenge rocks...

Stonehenge is one of those places that you always think will be magical and impressive. You see the photos all of your life. Then you get there.

It isn't that it is unimpressive, it is just that at first glance it looks exactly like the photos and nothing more.

I can imagine though, in years past, when little girls and boys would go skipping through the stones and play hide and seek in the masses of of rocks. The stones must have seemed so magical, soaring up into the sky and rooted deep into the ground. I can see what it would have been like for Druids to trek to the stones to celebrate nature and the awe of the universe. There are so many things that cannot be explained. Is it really necessary to explain them though? Do we need to know how it is that they seem to be shooting straight out of the earth? Isn't it enough to be awed by them?

Many people go and see Stonehenge and are unimpressed. It just shows how jaded society has gotten. A rock is just a rock. A pyramid isn't that impressive. What's so great about that? People forget that these stones put in place centuries ago. It is like magic.

There were people who want to take it back to the magical place it used to be. They want the fences taken down and the path removed so that it can go back to the place that it had been before. To be honest, I think it would be much better that way.
